Tennant Funeral Home has been named the Logan County Chamber Business of the Week. The funeral home dates back to 1918 when the Stone circle of relatives opened Stone Mortuary at the corner of N. Third St. and Poplar St., where the Post Office is situated. After a few other owners, David W. Tennant purchased the funeral home from David Hettinger in 1985. Tennant added the primary crematory in northeastern Colorado in 1987.
David W. Tennant has been an authorized funeral director and embalmer for 42 years. He attended Northeastern Junior College, graduating in 1974. After NJC he started his formal mortuary coaching on the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science graduating in 1975.
He is currently the coroner for Logan County and is a licensed demise investigator also educated in eye enucleation. Tennant holds certifications and licenses in Colorado, South Dakota and Nebraska. He has additionally owned and operated funeral houses in Holyoke, Haxtun, and Julesburg.
David E. Tennant, son of David W. Tennant, got to work for the family trade in 2004 and later attended college for Mortuary Science, graduating from Arapahoe Community College in 2008.
He is a certified mortuary science practitioner in the course of the Colorado Funeral Directors Association and an authorized crematory operator in the course of the National Funeral Directors Association.
