"Hello, let's call this constructive criticism. I spent many of my early years as a tattoo artist and I respect your intentions for creating that tattoo hub you wrote. Know is when I tell you the truth. Due to the colossal amount of misinformation contained in that hub of verbal diarrhea you called a hub should be taken down. Guaranteed it's causing more problems for people than it is answering anyone's questions. It's a complete in justice to the world of tattooing. Filling your readers with unecessary fear of getting a tattoo. Almost all of your definitions are wrong or just random facts from how ever many different sources you read or should I say barely scanned over before you wrote that hub. Everyone who gets tattooed has their own reasons for doing so. Yes some of the reasons may be club or gang related, but then there's the majority of the people getting tattooed who are not asociated or affiliated with or members of clubs or gangs that get tattooed because they just plain and simply like getting tattooed. Thoughts of getting beaten up or killed by gang or club members never, not in a million years crosses their mind before getting tattooed. The whole hub should be taken down and rewritten properly, you know what I mean. You should actually research gang tattoos and also prison tattoos. Because they are two different subjects. Yes a lot of them cross over but when broken down are different as a whole. Society in general shits all over tattooing enough as it is so it doesn't need another misinformed person spreading more misinformation to the masses."
Yes! please do your research if you will get a tattoo!

Interesting hub that has spawned a lot of equally intriguing remark. I've watched my husband try to cover his previous tat, take away it himself with more than a few DIY methods, and finally just let it all hang around. I'm glad he didn't have any of the conceivable dangerous markings...

shirleymax on August 23, 2014:
A large number of this info is useless incorrect, also probably the most feedback equivalent to "the Latinos were eyeing my clover at the supermarket" are just ridiculous. No gang member is going to have a subject with a straight citizen having a clover or identical tattoo whether it is evident you not 'repping'. Also regarding clover or shamrock tatoos: they are utterly superb to have each outside and inside the machine. Almost each and every irish man in prison has a shamrock or four leaf clover. It's the striking of the 3 6's or the 'AB' that will cause a subject matter. Anyway if you are a regulation abiding citizen you'll be able to just about get whatever you wish to have as long as its now not blatant gang similar. 13's, shamrocks, all that stuffs high-quality and even in the gadget its now not a topic. Also within the majority of state programs non AB white guys usually have swatstikas, the federal gadget is the place youde to find issues of that. Basically gang memebers arent going to have issues with a citizen getting any tattoo within reason in case you are clearly no longer a gangbanger or are purposely getting a gang related tattoo. I say all of this from enjoy from being in a state supermax.

Latin kings and queens also have an al seeing eye. We have many a large number of tattoos and identifying makrs. Also for people that aren't conscious Latin Kings can also be any form of race. Indian. Cuban. Mexican. Puerto Rican. Are o ly the primary roots of the oppressed folks. If Our Nation comes to u and asks you if u need to be down and your white or black they see mings and queens in the way u raise yourself and conduct your existence. As a King I talk from expierence and when puttin in work it will simply imply child sitting for one of the crucial bros or sisters. It all is dependent upon what your brothers say.

Good hub on tatts. (would not have any myself) -
Lela (writer) from Somewhere near the heart of Texas on April 19, 2012:
Tribal tattoos also are full of meaning. I wish to look into the ones sooner or later.
Judi Brown from UK on April 19, 2012:
Very fascinating hub, had no concept that tattoos may lift those meanings.
PlasmaBeam from Carlsbad, CA on March 30, 2012:
Mob raised, authorities made... Zero tats!
Jim Higgins from Eugene, Oregon on March 16, 2012:
A in reality attention-grabbing Hub! I have heard of these "meaningful" tatts, and have noticed numerous them on guys in entrance of me on the 7-11. I have wondered what they mean for a long time so will bookmark this Hub for reference. Thanks for writing it!
Shiningstar4u2c from Hilton Head Island on March 12, 2012:
Great and Informative Hub. it is going to save some ones existence in the future!
Lela (creator) from Somewhere close to the heart of Texas on February 27, 2012:
That would possibly get their attention. So are you feeling better?
Kelly Umphenour from St. Louis, MO on February 27, 2012:

I was ill for the closing couple days - viral or one thing....lol. Dave said iI was pronouncing loopy stuff in my sleep remaining night time too:) haha!
I believe it is crips! Lol. Crisps ...crypts would be better I'm gonna see if they'll trade it!
Lela (creator) from Somewhere close to the heart of Texas on February 21, 2012:
Hey, you beat my hubscore for today!
Question? - Are they known as the 'crypts' or the 'crips'? I'm no longer sure. But I like the identify 'saddle tramps'.
Kelly Umphenour from St. Louis, MO on February 21, 2012:
Way cool hub! You know how a lot I hate tats:) lol lol
In St. Louis - they use 314 - we also have the bloods, crypts, saddle tramps (biker gang) and a whole lot of AB and skinheads.
Personally I love most tattoos - as frame artwork - however I do not like to peer them used as a methiod of intimidation as they do for gangs. That's simply my opinion although....I LOVED the data here - voted up and all that!
Lela (creator) from Somewhere near the center of Texas on February 17, 2012:
Always absolute best to steer clear of face and hand tattoos. The exceptions are make-up tattooing like eyeliner and "ring" tattoos on palms which may also be somewhat gorgeous.
Definitely keep away from teardrops and initials. The ink crowd is different needless to say.
Om Paramapoonya on February 17, 2012:
What an enchanting hub! I at all times puzzled what the teardrop tattoo symbolized. It's now not that I sought after to get one, although. My face is the very final position I might consider putting a tattoo on. Rated up and intersting!
AkaiMiko on February 15, 2012:
Wow!! This is just loopy, it's getting to be so an individual cannot have a real fondness for the number Thirteen or have their initials "A.B." or a vicious taking a look tiger on their our bodies or something...what an international lol.
The Finance Hub from Portland, Oregon on February 15, 2012:
Wow what an enchanting hub on an interesting topic. I never knew prison tats will have such a lot meaning in the back of them good or unhealthy! Voted up and engaging and I hope you enjoy my hubs as well!
Lela (creator) from Somewhere close to the heart of Texas on February 15, 2012:
No, Lady T - I didn't in finding your comments offensive at all. Trust me, I will be able to say so if I do or just disallow the remark. I admire any contributing info, thanks!
Bob, I do not know what's going on on the Walls unit anymore since I no longer reside in Huntsville. I had a friend that was within the system for 5-10, but he's out now and living in Maine. The only time I went inside used to be after I applied for a task there within the prison infirmary and I used to be a widespread visitor to the general public family members dept. of TDC. I wrote for the school newspaper and did articles about the jail. Went to a few Execution parties and typically tried to keep away from that part of town. On the outside, Huntsville is a sexy nice place to are living.
diogenes on February 15, 2012:
Yeah, Star. You walk small in Walls. Many baddies waiting this that and the other there.
I handiest spent a couple of days there fortunately
Lady Tenaz on February 15, 2012:
I'm hoping you didn't think I supposed the rest rude by my feedback, I used to be simply trying to provide you with a extra clear figuring out about one of the most tats you spoke of. And I agree, no person will have to get the ones sort of tattoos, duration. :-)
Motown2Chitown on February 15, 2012:
This hub is in reality cool and extremely informative, Austin. I watch a ton of prison shows and so they concentrate a lot on tats, as chances are you'll expect. I'm no longer adversarial to tats at all, but I agree with you - get it where nearly all of other people won't see them or know what they imply and be ready to provide an explanation for/protect them if someone asks. Me? I'm simple white, no ink. Maybe dull, but safe - for essentially the most phase.
Again, really cool hub.
Lela (creator) from Somewhere near the heart of Texas on February 15, 2012:
It's nice to understand that some Texas prisons are non-threatening. All of the ones I visited gave the look to be pretty quiet. I thought it used to be pretty demanding after I walked around the backyard at the Walls unit, however that used to be mostly me I believe. The Walls unit is the place most prisoners used to head just earlier than being launched.
The Texas Syndicate is even more radical than the AB if that's possible. Since you weren't from Texas and you were a brief termer, that may were why they by no means with you, Bob. Most of the bad gangs tend to be 'lifers' as a result of they have not anything left to lose.
Lady T - I might never get a tattoo of any of the signs and symbols of the L.A. gangs. (Well every other for that subject). The function of the hub is to inform people that want tattoos that a few of them are very bad tatts to have! Even butterfly tatts are associated with some gangs. It's hard to know what is going to offend some other folks.
So, if you need a tattoo, it's a good suggestion to have it placed where most people cannot see it. This will help give protection to you in day by day life, however now not in prison the place all of you tends to be uncovered at one time or any other.
diogenes from UK and Mexico on February 15, 2012:
Great hub on a very complicated subject, AS. I "lived the dream," as you know, but the rest I knew is long forgotten. Teardrops are principally bullshit, although sneaky murder can earn you one.
The AB may not offer protection to non AB participants, or did not when I was in HV. It depends what joint you might be in as to which group has supremacy, I was in Wynne, which is a non-threatening place normally.
Lady Tenaz on February 15, 2012:
additionally, the 3 dots stand for "mi vida loca" and anyone can get that tatted on them. Almost everybody I have ever recognized growing up had it tattooed on their hands. It's a coming of age factor that a large number of chicanos/chicanas do if they grow up in a neighborhood whether they are affiliated in a gang or not.
Christopher Antony Meade from Gillingham Kent. United Kingdom on February 15, 2012:
That used to be a rather well researched hub. Very fascinating. I haven't got any tatoos. I do not believe I can ever get one now. I don't need to offend the mistaken people. Life is just too treasured for that.
Lady_Tenaz on February 14, 2012:
Let me inform you, if in case you have a Trese' (13) on your body earlier than you get locked up you are in a heap of hassle. despite the fact that you simply have your town to your frame or your group...You must "put in work" to get the ones tats...and after I say "put in work" you work that out. They are however soldiers in their ranking gadget, especially within the Pen. So in the event that they let you know to "put in work" to earn their tats then that's what needs to be carried out. I do not consider any of that lifestyle however I grew up engulfed in it and I know all concerning the hood and jailhouse tats.... and through the way in which L.A. isn't 13-
13 stands for "M" plain and simple. L.A. tattoos are by no means just 13- however may also be the realm codes (ex; 213).
@ DRBJ- even 18 isn't just right both, if you are in L.A. (ex; 18th st. XVIII)....LOL
Lela (author) from Somewhere near the center of Texas on February 14, 2012:
Just put your bank account number over that 13, no person will ever know, drbj.
drbj and sherry from south Florida on February 14, 2012:
Dang, Lela, I knew I must no longer have tattooed that gigantic quantity 13 all over the place my body. Maybe I will discover a tattoo artist who can alternate it to quantity 18.
Great research on a reasonably esoteric matter.
Lela (creator) from Somewhere close to the center of Texas on February 14, 2012:
Hi Druid! Haven't seen you in a while. I have ordered Hangover II and cannot wait to see it. If it is 1/2 as hilarious as the unique I do know I can find it irresistible.
Hi Alastar! Yes, you don't want to be at a loss for words with the AB, that is evidently. Why they selected a three leaf clover, I can by no means know. Just being Irish or of Irish descent, does not make you a candidate for the Aryan Brotherhood. I think the Ace of Clubs, which appears slightly like a clover is also considered an AB tatt.
Alastar Packer from North Carolina on February 14, 2012:
Fantastic hub with a unique standpoint right here. Anyone taking into consideration a tat will have to surely take heed. Learned about it when Latinos started eying my 4-leaf clover tat within the grocery stores. Guess they concept it may well be an AB one. Really despite the fact that, who would have idea. Good one Lela.
Druid Dude from West Coast on February 14, 2012:
Have you observed "Hangover II"? Good hub.
